Lighting Design Project
The purpose of this project was to develop two different lighting 'modes' for a single space. Each of the two modes would create an opposite feeling in the room simply by changing the lighting scheme. For this project I chose to design the lighting for a yoga studio. In one image, the lighting is held toward the center of the room to create a sense of closure. In the other image the lights are located on the perimeter. This draws the eye from edge to edge and the room, making it seem more spacious. The two parts of the project were to build a physical scale model (shown on the top of both images) and then to model the room using a computer program (shown on the bottom). For my 3D model, I used AutoCAD 3D to first build the space. Then I imported it into AGi32, to receive accurate lighting calculations. The final result was a series of attractive looking images that accurately represent the room.
