This elaborate GUI-based application relies on VB to provide the front-end and serve as a conduit for information transfer between an Access database and Excel spreadsheets. At the Corporate Office, a VB application accepts “a plan” with activities and various other parameters (deadline, resources etc.), validates that all parameters are within specified limits (pre-entered into a SQL Server database) and stores them in a separate SQL Server database. The VB app. then proceeds to calculate time and quantity targets for dealers based on the input plan. Using OLE, these targets are populated into Excel spreadsheets sent to dealers. The dealers manually update these spreadsheets based on progress made on the specified activities. This package monitors the salary details of each employee. The personal details as well as monthly transactions of each employee were maintained. To accomplish this, the whole project was divided into 3 modules: Employee set up module where the personal details of an employee are maintained, Transaction module where in the monthly transactions of all the employees are maintained, Reports module wherein the overall summary and the individual pay stub of all the employees are generated. The database of the employees was developed using Oracle. SQL queries, PL/SQL control structures, Triggers, Procedures, Packages and Exceptions were used in the development of the database. Developer 2000 was used on the client side. Communication between the front end and the backend was using SQL*Net. Project data, Vendor data & time-tracking information is entered via the GUI and stored in the Oracle database. The communication between VC++ and Oracle was using the ODBC. This system manages Customer information, Quotes, Customer orders, Stock maintenance of Items, Sales and Shipping details. Upon user input a Visual C++ application stores data in an Oracle database. Environment: Windows NT, Visual C++ 5.0, Oracle 7.3 Responsibilities: • Primary responsibility for development of the Customer, product and sales order module, which maintains customer and product information, Sales order processing and Sales invoicing. Library Management System This package helps the industrial training institute (ITI) students with their library management work. Through this application students will be able to select books for the classes they are enrolled in. The librarian will be able to look up account information such as the books due, etc. User input was accepted using forms and screens designed with VB. Active X controls were created and used in the application. COM components were created, registered and referenced, and the object browser was used to get information of the COM components. These were later reused in other applications outside of this system. This package gave all the details of the staff of the ITI’s and various other details of the courses available like the fee structure for each course and start and end dates of the course etc. This package consisted of six modules: Staff module, Student inquiries, Enrolments, Fee collection, Course up-gradation, Dropout checking. The staff module gives the details of the staff. The course details will be displayed and the desired course can be selected. When a course is selected, the course contents will be displayed along with the details of the starting and the ending dates of the course. At the time of enrolment, the discount (if any) given for the course is recorded. The monthly fee is calculated using the discount .The course up-gradation deals with adding the up-gradation fee and changing the end date of the course. The dropout module checks the attendance of the students.
