Many of my large consulting clients have tried do-it-yourself online surveys and have not been happy with the results. That's not because the tools - like SurveyMonkey and Zoomerang - are no good, but because they assumed the rest was just "common sense." In truth, when amateurs - even very talented ones - put together an online survey, there is far too much specialized knowledge required for them to even hope to get good results. It requires far more than just writing interesting questions: there is a lot of both "art" and "science" to developing, fielding, interpreting and using surveys! I have 25+ years experience in executive roles at Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurial businesses, market research and independent consulting. Using surveys I have developed for clients, we have: optimized products and services based on user (and lost user and prospective user) input; tested new product concepts among target users; learned what is working about a brand - and what is not - along with the diagnostics to know how to improve; increased customer satisfaction and loyalty to decrease customer churn and increase lifetime customer value; etc. It's all about getting actionable results that will help to grow the business, and that is hard to do using surveys without prior, in-depth experience! Executive marketing experience: Frito-Lay, Advo, Avery-Dennison, Petmate Pet Products (Doskocil Mfg.) and more. Consulting Experience: Toro Irrigation Systems; Struman & Associates Consulting (research & strategy); BottomLine Marketing Education: Cornell (BA) and U. Chicago (MBA)
