I'm a Filipino writer. In terms of non-fiction, I haven't faced a topic yet that I couldn't turn out into a clear and insightful article or essay. With fiction, my experience is limited, to be honest, although with the 'insightful' part -- check. I live in the Philippines, but I'm more at home writing in English.
