This was one of the most interesting WordPress custom installs and developments. The base for the website theme was an already developed available premium theme. That was supposed to keep everything simple, in line with the other regular WordPress installs. The fun part about this project was represented by the constant improvements required by the client. Header info, home page fields, alternating left/right elements, folding text are only some of the improvements I added to the original theme. In the end resulted a nice, "soft" design, clean pages with generous spaces around the elements. The well defined text fields are complemented by images nicely framed by a rounded corner gradient border. Social media buttons are present everywhere, as links to the facebook and twitter page, and as incentives to sharing, at the bottom of every page/article.

The company acts as a contractor in the electric services field. First I chose a font for the logo. I tried different options, with different placements. I found the round font not to be as suitable as the squared one. The chosen font has more of a technical look, it is easily readable and it suits better the purpose of this logo. It was approved by the client. In terms of symbols, I wanted something different from the competitors logos, so I had to exclude lightning and light bulbs. I chose a plug attached to an electric wire. There were more attempts to integrate the symbol into the logo. The goal was to keep CIS and ELECTRIC as distinct, visible, separate entities. The client decided for the final version, where the cable surrounds the word ELECTRIC and separates it from CIS. As of texture, the decision was to keep the logo flat. This is, of course, to follow the guidelines: simple, maximum two colors, technical, easily readable if you have in mind t-shirt printing.

It started as a simple update to a website, add a couple of new pages and update some images in the galleries. It ended up as a nice custom WordPress install with a theme customized to client demands. From pages edited with Macromedia Dreamweaver, from galleries created with Photoshop, from a website based over 90% on tables, to an easy manageable content management system (WordPress), to galleries that can be easily administrated without aditional software, to a table-less theme. Now the owner can log in, she can make any changes to the content of the website, including creating new pages, galleries, arranging content, all these wihout any aditional software.
