I am a technical, executive leader with sixteen years of experience at a UK Biotech unicorn. This was during a period of explosive growth, growing from 30 employees to over 1,200 and playing a very hands-on part in taking intellectual property through to global, commercial products in healthcare and life sciences. Prior to my most recent role I spent ten years running web- and software development teams delivering scientific data for pivotal science projects at the Sanger Institute in Hinxton. I find myself looking for new, interesting, fun and challenging roles in the digital space. I have experience at many levels of the digital product development lifecycle, covering requirement gathering, persona construction, user experience design, software and API design and development (LAMP stack, Perl, NodeJS and JavaScript), system architecture (Linux, many varieties), fault-finding, testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD with Gitlab and Jenkins) automation, DevOps, profiling and optimisation, operations, reliability, information security, product commercialisation, customer support and many other aspects besides. I have run Agile teams of permanent employees and agency staff using SCRUM methods. I have worked with stakeholders at every level from junior software engineers and scientists through to CxO executives. I have represented and spoken on behalf of my companies at international conferences, to internal and external customers, commercial partners, analysts, auditors and lawyers. I have run teams from small to large, with several years a department totalling around 150, mentoring, developing skills, building teams and products using a collaborative and friendly style. I have developed and set strategic and tactical goals and helped to deliver several both transformative tools and highly complex products to customers worldwide.
