We've got ourselves an older server rack that we're going to be putting a bunch of awesome AI hardware in, but unfortunately it doesn't look very exciting, so we're here to get your help to make it look a lot cooler!
The objective is to make a cool looking rack with a cyberpunk style design by adding on parts, paint and/or printed wrap. You make the design, we provide any feedback for design changes, you complete and provide design files.
Please see pics attached to contest details, we have the rack physically here, need a colour / artwork design for it.
Printing images on the front and back where there are perforated holes is very difficult. Images should only be on sides or solid parts of rack. We're looking more for a colour scheme with highlights rather than a picture of something cyberpunky slapped on it.
We have a preference for a black base with neon purples, our logo purple (See PSDs), neon or bright yellows, blues or reds. (Can use RGB accents too)
Step 1: Create a cool design
- We're looking for a Cyberpunk style design, open to anything at the moment. The rack will be placed prominently in our office, so we're looking for a design that stands out.
- It is preferred if the design includes some physical components such as the following:
--- Side Panel enhancements - CNC cut add-on panels which are added to the sides to make it look more cyberpunk-ish.
--- RGB LED backlit components - LEDs lit from behind add-on panels or edge lit components
- The base rack we're starting with is an IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Model 800 with the following dimensions: Dimensions 75.25" H x 54.50" W x 35.75" D (1913 mm x 1383 mm x 909 mm) Pictures of the rack are attached.
- For equipment we have the following to create components with:
--- 3 Axis CNC - Max Build size (WxDxH) 1220x2438x152mm - MDF & Plastics are available.
--- 3D Printer - Max Build size (WxDxH) 200 x 200 x 185mm - PLA & ABS available
--- HP Latex Printer - Max Print Size (WxD) 1524x2438mm - 1200 DPI max resolution
- If there are paints used in the design, we can purchase online from the following stores:
-- Rona.ca
-- HomeDepot.ca
-- CanadianTire.ca
- If there are components for the design we can purchase online, we can purchase from the following:
--- Amazon.ca (Prime)
--- Ebay (Canada)
--- AliExpress
- The use of LED lights, small screens or other components is desired.
---- Our budget for physical materials is $500.00CDN
Step 2: Provide DXF, STL and other assets for enhancement parts to be created
- Once the design has been created and design feedback provided and a final design approved.
- From there, we will require the design files in order to create the sub-components / parts that will be created and attached / added to the rack. There may be some feedback regarding the sub-component files if we can not create or attach the part as originally intended.
- We will order any materials and equipment required, create the components and complete. Again, there may be some feedback if we can not source the exact part or paint.
