We require a logo design for a new business based in Manchester, UK called 'Hive Urban Farms'.

Hive Urban Farms plans to grow fresh produce in the centre of urban areas to bring food production back to cities and contribute to a self-sustainable future. Our vision is to take unused areas in cities and revitalise them using modern, indoor farming techniques, starting in Manchester.

Our initial products will be oyster and shiitake mushrooms grown inside shipping containers. Shipping containers are cheap, portable and don’t require planning permission to build on. They also provide an airtight environment that can be altered to our needs. Oyster and shiitake mushrooms are cash crops and as such can provide a quick revenue stream for us to build the business on. We will ensure that as much waste as possible is reused/recycled during the growing process to remain as environmentally-friendly and waste-free as we can. We will sell to local bars, restaurants and cafes throughout the Greater Manchester region to create a hyper-localised food distribution network.

Our company is called ‘Hive Urban Farms’ for three reasons:

1. ‘Hive’ implies togetherness, which we hope to achieve by using our business to show urban communities that food can be produced efficiently and sustainably. We also hope to employ people that are furthest away from the labour market, such as those with disabilities, ex-offenders and people over 50, to play our part in reducing biased unemployment statistics.
2. Although we're not originally from Manchester, this is where our business begins and we want to make the city proud. We hope to contribute to Manchester's strong civic pride by becoming an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable enterprise. The Manchester Bee is a good signal of this which we relate to the word ‘Hive’.
3. Our business aims include the production of honey as a revenue stream in the later stages. The production of honey literally relates to a beehive.

The key ideas to use when trying to design our logo are that we are fresh, local and urban. We'd like a minimalistic design (see added files for some ideas). We envision our logo using black, white and yellow, however, we are open to suggestions on this so please feel free to be creative! We'd also like a worker bee in there somewhere, but again, if you feel you have a great design that doesn't incorporate this then go ahead. We don't want a mushroom in the logo as we plan to expand our product set behind mushrooms, so this would limit us.
