A Melbourne Catholic Secondary College is seeking the assistance of an experienced communications/media practitioner to improve its community engagement. The school has many great stories to tell but is not getting its message out there because it hasn’t fully embraced a range of electronic media.
The main roles are;
•Better use of the schools website
•Establish facebook and twitter and a publishing regime
•Publish content to web, fb & twitter
•Play a role in the production of the school newsletter
•Manage e-newsletter (hybrid of paper based pdf above)
•Have an eye for a story swirling around the school and maximise its reach (new media and also local papers)
oPreferably be a parent of school aged children so as to have an affinity with school content and tone of voice
oProven comms background in traditional and digital media
oCan work well with the principal and key staff to understand school culture and ambitions
oAs a contractor under a fixed number of hours per week and rate to be negotiated
oWork generally performed off-site so hours are flexible but needs to be visible at school from time to time to build relationships and get across stories.
oLikely more hours would be consumed in the early days establishing systems and process then moving more to an ongoing maintenance program. Likely hours 20 to 30 hours per month.
