Hi, the problem consists of solving this problem (attached below). You should upload 2 files: a Word or PDF of the problem showing the steps on how you solved the problem and also attached the thermodynamics tables that you used. Also, you need to submit the MATLAB of the code. Once solved you will develop a Matlab code with variables able to simulate this problem.
Brief of the problem:
A geothermal heat pump operating at steady state with Refrigerant-22
as the working fluid is shown schematically in the figure. The heat pump uses 12°C
water from wells as the thermal source. Operating data are shown on the figure for a
day in which the outside air temperature is -6°C. Assume isentropic operation of the
compressor, and the air to the house to be at 1 atm. Write a computer program, using
Excel, MatLab or a similar software, able to simulate this heat pump and give results
for the questions below. The program should allow for changes of the entry data
parameters, with a user-friendly interface:
(a) the volumetric flow rate of heated air to the house, in m^3/min.
(b) The mass flow rate of the refrigerant, in kg/min.
(c) the compressor power, in kW.
(d) the volumetric flow rate of water from the geothermal wells, in m3/h.
In the Word or PDF you should also explain briefly how the code works.
