Logo Design

I am building a mobile application called YMap that provides travellers with safety information and encourages collaboration and communication among travellers. Although the theme is safety the tone is positive and friendly and focused on providing location-based warnings rather than building on people’s fears. In that context I could imagine one of the brand colours to be a dark green (and perhaps a contrasting colour like orange or purple but have no idea). I think the Y also needs to be a different colour than the Map to make it more legible. Our early audience is young travellers but we have plans to enter the corporate market at some point and so we want the logo to be fresh but not all too immature. Since the product is a mobile app, the logo also needs to work well as an app icon (so not too intricate) and in addition to the standard file types, I will also need icon formats for various pixel-standard devices.
