You could write a custom web part which will access the API and return back to your sharepoint list as well. Using custom web part method, you simply insert this web part within the page, and it will do the functions once the list loaded

Hi If SharePoint On-premise You can use Workflow (2013) to run the function in the API and update the item. What's your version, if it's On-Premise. There is also the possibility of an Event-Receiver in the list. If SharePoint Online Thought of using MS Flow to perform this process? You can use MS Flow and run the query in the Third-party API and get the value. So the list data can be updated. Do you have the required licensing in Office 365? att
