Linode Server IP Tables Configurations

I am testing my web application on linode server. I have a couple of problems.
1. The existing DNS record which was working fine earlier is now got disturbed. It has to be fixed.
2. The production server is not configured for any mail server. We want to use the external mail relay server. Our web application is having the email/sms messaging components which are not working because of the ports 25 & 587 are filtered. From command prompt using telnet, we are able to successfully send mails but from the application (PHP web app), it is not working.
If somebody is familiar with Linode and Linux administration from production server point of view then please send me your quote.
