Integration Designer with extensive knowledge and strong experience with MuleSoft

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Integration Designer – API works in the ICT Integration Practice and is primarily responsible for producing the integration design in MuleSoft platform to deliver business critical functions for the University. This role will use modern integration approaches to deliver assets that are discoverable, reusable, adaptable and maintainable to help drive success in the University’s technology space.

This role will work collaboratively with internal and external customers/stakeholders such as project managers, business analysts, solutions designers, solution architects, Integration Governance Practitioners, etc, to build a robust integration solution that adheres to governance and best practices. This also includes stakeholder management of their expectations and following the procedures and guidelines of the Integration Practice.

The role will provide architectural and design expertise in large, complex environments and will provide leadership and guidance in the creation of API roadmaps and defines the direction for various API strategies for the continued success of the Integration Practice.

The role will utilize the extensive knowledge and strong experience with the MuleSoft product suite as well as expert experience with Cloud technologies to perform detailed requirements analysis, software design, development, testing, and deployment.

DECISION-MAKING AND DELEGATIONS OF AUTHORITY

The Integration Designer – API has a high overall degree of autonomy in the decision-making process of the overall Integration and ETL design. This role works closely with the Manager, Integration Governance Practice, Manager, Integration Design, and other stakeholders to establish the best design approach. Once established, the integration Designer – API collaborates and delegates to members of the Integration Practice to ensure the approved design is adhered to during the development, implementation, maintenance, and review phases of the entire life cycle.

WORK EXPERIENCE

- 5+ Years of experience in integration design and architecture. Proven experience designing and leading the implementation of microservices.

- 7+ years experience with MuleSoft 3.9 and 4.X and with MuleSoft’s Anypoint platform – Anypoint Studio, Cloudhub, API Manager, Runtime Manager, Design Centre, etc.

- At least 5+ years of design and hands-on experience on the MuleSoft Integration platform and Informatica ETL.

- Experience with containerisation technologies.

- Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, and Kinesis and significant experience in customer-facing Digital environments, incorporating security, high availability, and low latency.

- Experience within a true CI/CD environment with an advanced understanding of what is required architecturally to make it successful.

- Proven track record of delivery including working on a project from pre-inception through to business and technical delivery in an Agile delivery environment.

SKILLS REQUIRED

- Ability to collaborate, coach, and guide integration Practice team members, internal and external customers, and stakeholders on the best integration design approach

- Strong knowledge of API security and different ways to secure APIs.

- Strong practical knowledge of integration design patterns, governance best practices, and API design using RAML or OAS. Experience using the Design Centre and utilising the API Led and API design first principles

- Strong practical knowledge of MuleSoft technologies and the Anypoint Platform including Cloudhub, VPC, VPN, load balancing, etc
