IP Accounting Solution

This project is the first of two projects. The entire project's goal is to report on traffic utilization across a firewall. This project is broken into two phases: * Phase 1: Build a scalable collection mechanism for network data * Phase 2: Build a simple reporting method based on the data in Phase 1. Update: 09/28/2005 I would like to add some clarifications to this bid: The solution MUST be able to track and categorize protocol distrobution by IP address, and the traffic on those IP addresses. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear in my bid. Your proposal should be flexible with the data, so that another project can work with the data collected. Update: (2) 09/29/2005 I would also entertain the option putting an agent on each system on my network if need by. This would not be my first choice, but if the proposal made a good case for using agents, I would consider it. ## Deliverables I am not using the boilerplate RAC deliverables. Here is what I expect. * The host will not be available for active development, and testing will be done by me. I am a very able engineer and not afraid of testing code. The developer MUST provider thier own environment however. I can provide a software list and versions available on the target system if required. * I encourage the use of open source software. This project IS NOT work for hire. You may use the work you do here in any other job you desire. I do not wish to retain any licensing, or IP rights. I will require a perpetual right to use license if you do wish to re-license your work * .The solution should be comprised of major technologies like C, C++, Java, Python, mabey PHP -- but that would be a hard sell.
