1) Add a mode switch interface that turns a Chaikin algorithm on and off. When enabled, the program should use Chaikin's algorithm to compute a curve from the given control points using the subdivision algorithm described by Chaikin (in CAGD by Gerald Farin). The algorithm works like this: take each segment of the current control polygon and divide it into three equal segments (i.e. add two vertices, evenly spaced, in the middle of each segment). Now define a new control polygon by joining the second internal vertex of each segment with the first internal vertex of the following segment (if there is a following segment). This, in effect, "cuts off" all the corners of the existing control polygon. Continue this process until the curve looks smooth. (pick a reasonable threshold). Besure to always draw the original control polygon as well as the resulting curve. 2) Add a mode switch to your interface that turns "B-Spline" mode on and off, and also two buttons that raise and lower the degree of the B-Spline ( place a lower bound of 1 and upper of 10 on the degree). Use the DeBoor algorithm to compute a B-Spline of the given degree using the current control points and a knot vector of evenly-spaced knots between 0 and 1. Use a sufficient number of knots to define a curve of maximum degree 10 using the given control points. That is, the number of knots must be a function of the (maximum) degree 10 and the number of control points in the current control polygon. Note that all knots will have multiplicity 1, since they will all have distinct values. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
