World holiday observance

I need a desktop calendar application This program needs a calendar component to interact with a database of holiday observance throughout the world (which I will provide). I am not positive if this is MonthView or monthCalendar in VB NET. (If you will use VBNET) If not I am sure there are a lot of free 3rd party components available for other programming languages. This application should have 4 forms: 1. Main form: user should be able to view the holidays that occur on a selected month for a selected country. There could be some minor filtering to show only religious holidays only, etc 2. Configuration form: User setup upcoming holiday event reminders for a country 3. Popup notification form: This will MSN type popup when the event occurs on specified timeline that user set to be reminded (this should be refined to allow user to be notified again later or end notification for that event) 4 Help/about: You should know what that is See an example of what I need: To get a good feel for what I need then you should download and look at the following: Mozilla Sunbird at: [login to view URL] As well as a couple of the holiday calendars at [login to view URL] You will see that there are some similarities, but what I need is a lot less sophisticated and simple. The difference in the two applications is that mine will have the database as a permanent part of the application. I just need a simple calendar component or API or whatever it is called that will respond to the database to show the holidays. In fact the highest bidder had a clear advantage if they can demonstrate that they have experience in similar application or they understand clearly what I need, and have a clear strategy to do this in the time allotted. I encourage questions and comments My preferred language is VBNET but Visual Basic/Visual C#,Visual C++/NET, VB6 I could even consider. I just need this developed in something I will easily be able to edit text, graphics, interface etc in. Any upgrade will have to be done by coder. The MS NET framework is free and I am able to use them. I could learn to use others if they are free/cheap and easy. Let me see what you have to offer.
