Website Project: (Favorite Links member's website) A Simple website that members can list their Favorite Links on their own personal page. Members: Members will have the ability to post their favorite links on their page, they can post them randomly or by category. Example: News, Money, Entertainment. Members will have the ability to have available space for 100-500 links. They can also post a small avatar/picture/image (any image type file).The image size will be approximately in pixels 50 X 50, and in inches W = .694 X H = .694. They will also have the ability to transfer their browsers saved favorites to their page. If they have more than the allowed amount, it will prompt them that only the number of allowed links will transfer. They will also have the ability to do basic customization to their pages, such as fonts, type link color, background color, and a choice of 3 different layouts. Development: A simple commonly used script/language/open source. Website needs to have a member log in, and a way for the member to develop a page on the website. The website needs to be compatible to fit different resolutions, and both PC and Mac platforms. Not sure what type of Web 2.0 solutions will be needed, but I assume, CCS, Java Script, Ajax, .Net, .PHP, .ASP, MYSQL, XML type of programming might be needed? The log in also needs to be made to keep spammers from trying to make multiple pages. Website must download quickly and be user friendly. I am open to suggestions as far as what programming should be used. I will also need the ability to manage members. Categories: All basic Categories, members may also have the ability to create a category. Members Pages: Members pages will also have a feature called Search for Links. The search engine we use can be Google, Yahoo, and/or perhaps one other popular searching website. I would like the search to come up with a java script/Ajax type of script that opens up within the page/or over the page. When you find a link you want to list on your page, the member can just click on it and tag it to be updated on their page. This function will be similar to some of the popular bookmarking websites currently available. (A link entry small window can open up in which you can add or edit and name the URL) I also want a script installed so when you move the mouse over the links a pop up/thumbnail of the linking website displays. Anyone will be able to browse other member's pages, but only a member will be able to make a links page. A member will have the ability to bring up his page without logging in by just typing their username in a search box. Since we are giving a member the ability to list so many links, the spacing will be important. I also want to keep web pages with low bytes as possible. If needed I also have some links to scripts on the web that I am interested in. A tag cloud might also be a nice touch to the pages. Website needs to be interactive. Design: The design of the website is important, a clean professional look would be best. The homepage should have info regarding how to use the website, and perhaps a sample/demo links page. I would also like the ability to be able to edit this design if needed since I have some experience with Frontpage and Photoshop. I am a little picky with how the layout and the visual part of the website should look. I guess I will go over some website designs with the programmer that is chosen to see if they would work. I do not need a logo design. Test Demo: Recommended by Scriplance - (Requesting Demo) Before you pay for the script, you should ask the programmer to setup a demo (on their server) to make sure it functions as you requested. Once the programmer sends you the script it could be too late to cancel the project, and you will be expected to pay for their service.
