VOIce your Choice Voice Your Choice is going to be an online e-magazine. There will be 4 categories of users 1) Readers 2) Writers 3) Moderators and 4) general public When Readers log in, they will see the list of topics (categories) on the left hand pane. On choosing such a topic they will be able to browse through the detailed articles. The article will have the title, author's name and detailed text. When writers log in, they will have all the features of the readers and in addition they will get a page to upload their articles for review by moderators. The article will be available to the moderator in his mailbox. When moderators log in, they will have all the features of the readers and in addition they will have a mailbox feature which allows them to read the articles submitted by the writers for review. If the review is successful, the moderator will have a feature to upload the article in the magazine, to be on display for readers in a particular topic category. The e-magazine will have and interactive section as well for its registered users. This will be an opinion poll where registered readers will be able to create polls and exercise their choice by voting either "yes" or "No" or "Cant say" for a range of topics that are available for voting. The result would be a bar graph for each topic representing the votes for the 3 options as a percentage. The general public will also be able to vote but cannot create polls. 1) How will reader, writer and moderator get registered to website? Registration will be a simple process of entering few user details..like name..email etc . Upon registration the user will get a password and user id. 2) Who will create the polls? Only the registered readers (not public,not writers) will be able to create polls. Moderators will approve the poll topic. Once a poll topic is approved, the public will be able to see the current poll results and vote for it. See attachment. A simple database insert should create a topic and present it as a opinion poll voting box with a bar graph. 3) What features needs to be built for General Public? General public will be able to see articles which are classified by the moderator as "public". This can be a simple database flag of which the moderator has control of. So all articles marked as "public" will be seen without registration or login. Thus general public will be the forth or default category of users (the other 3 categories are readers,writers,moderators) . The general public will be able to view poll results and vote but they will not be able to create poll topics. 4) Writers need to agree upon the plagiarism agreement before they upload every article. Violation of this inspite of agreeing to abide by the agreement will lead to disassociation of the writer from VYC. Writers will be protected by disclaimer of copyright on their work User Interface Requirements 1) The public facing page of VYC will have a left hand menu pane and a right hand page body pane. The left hand menu pane will have 2 sub divisions. 1. Article category and 2. Poll category. The right hand pane will be the home page explaining what VYC is text. It will also list the names of writers associated so far. It will also have the top 5 articles rated by readers with their authors. These individually will be links and on clicking will open the articles. The articles available for view to the public will only those that have been set as “publicly viewable?? by the moderator. 2) On clicking on any of the article categories on the left hand pane, the right hand pane will list the articles of that category with their author. On clicking on these article links, that particular article should open. A category should be configurable. i.e moderators should have the ability to add a new category. 3) On clicking on any of the poll categories on the left hand pane, the right hand pane will list the polls of that category with their current results and voting options. On how the poll graph results should look like please refer to the screenshot in the document attached. 4)The articles will be composed of heading, sub heading, author’s name, author’s picture, date, article body, copyright disclaimer, one picture associated with the article, a five point rating for the readers (top 5 of these ratings will be used for the first site landing page display), comments textbox from reader. All comments from readers will appear below the article provided they have been approved by the moderator. 5)A search facility is required to be present always on the top of the sceen. This will text search all articles. 6)A “From the editors desk?? link in the left hand pane will open a page where messages from the editor will be shown. This will also be a like an article which moderators can upload into the site for display. 7)Moderators will have facility to remove any poll or article in any category any time.
