Skills required for this project: PHP, MySQL -- if you know how to improve the performance of searching large data sets, that would help a lot. I have a visitor tracking system that does 2 things: 1. Tracks visitors to a website, displaying on a table the following columns for the visitor: Date/Time Stamp IP address City State Country ISP User Agent Referral URL Number of visits (for that IP) 2. Based on the values in #1 display custom content. E.g. if the visitor is from Canada, direct the visitor to [login to view URL] Deliverable: Review the code/functionality that's currently in place, and then make an estimate for Project 2 (described below) Project 2 (to be setup after you complete this project): 1. improve the performance for searching through the logs -- currently, it can take 10-20 seconds to return a query (e.g. show me all the visitors from Los Angeles) 2. port the tracking system to 3 new websites

Hello, thanks for inviting me:) I did several MySQL optimizations earlier, so this feels like a challenge. I bid $50, but it's rather symbolic, as I don't know what is the actual stage of your DB and the queries you're using. So I would need to see your DB table for tracking (enough if you can show CREATE TABLE dump), so that I will know about indexes, what engine you use, etc... Then I would need to see the SQL queries (in PHP) for insert/update/select. After that I can have better idea about the effort and time needed, so I can give better estimate. If you invited me, I guess, I don't need to talk about past work, or introduce myself...
