I have a few Perl scripts that work in combination with some php and a MySQL database that processes queries and displays results in a certain way. **Therefore, the coder I will select must be an expert in Perl but also understand php/MySQL fairly well.
**
I need the following improvements:
1) Currenlty, these scripts work in a quasi FullText manner and should display the results in order of relevancy after Indexing. I would like to find ways of improving the degree of relevancy in the results as best as possible.
2) Currently, the results are first displayed as a table of thumbnails on one page. Because the number of results is constantly increasing as I enter more records in the database, I would like to have the results be displayed in several pages of 300 results each (pagination). In this case, the top of each page should display something like: "Page 1 of X - Displaying results 1 - 300 of xxx" and of course adjust accordingly for each subsequent page.
3) Currently, each result is also associated with a "check box" to select it. When a user clicks on a "Compare" button (already existing), a new page opens that displays only the results that have been selected, but in more detail. Because of No. 2 above, the results on some queries may be displayed over several pages. In these cases, the selected results shown when clicking on "Compare" should include those selected on *ALL* previous pages for each query (i.e. retain the selections of results on each previous page) and then reset (clear) for each new query.
There may be other small improvements we can discuss depending on your level of expertise (and creativity)...
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have prior to bidding.
Thanks!
