Modify VirtueMart Standard Shipping Module

We have a website using Joomla 1.5 and VitrueMart 1.1. VM uses a standard shipping module where the admin can set a shipping rate fee based on the weight of the product. We want a shipping module created that allows us to enter a flat shipping fee based on the order total and zone, where the admin creates the zones. ## Deliverables Right now we are using a different shopping cart for our live store and the current shipping module is not adequate either, but can help to explain what we’re looking for in the module you will create for VirtueMart. Currently, we have shipping set-up so that any shipment within the US is a flat fee of $6.95. We’d like to make VM work the same way. We have 2 other types of shipping set-up that don’t work properly, but we need the new shopping cart to work correctly. We have a rush shipping, where if the user selects it, the shipping fee comes through as $0.00 dollars. And we have an international shipping charge, which again charges the customer $0.00 dollars. If this were working correctly, the rush shipment would charge $6.95 plus whatever the rush charge was for the zone we have set-up. Again, if this were set-up correctly, an international order would cause the shopping cart to have a pop-up that informed the customer that we do ship internationally, but that the admin will have to get a price quote from UPS for international delivery and send the price quote to the users email address. Our fees for international shipping are whatever UPS charges us without any mark-up, plus a $6 handling fee. The user would then have to check a box to agree to the international shipping terms to get the order to process. Once the order is processed the admin uses our payment gateway to send the payment request for international shipping. Upon receipt of international shipping payment, we input that the shipping has been paid and process the order as we would any other order. The admin area should include the ability to set-up zones. Our current cart allows us to do this by creating a zone (like zone 1) and then adding US states to a zone. We’d like the VM shipping module to allow this type of zone creation for all us states and all countries of the world. By allowing us to create zones, I belive we can set-up 3 types of shipping which is what we want to be able to do. One for standard shipping, where our zone is the entire US and the fee is $6.95. The second is rush, where we will be able to set-up different zones/rates for different states in the US. The third type of shipping type will be international, which will charge the customer 0 dollars but require the user to read and agree to the international shipping charges. The admin should be able to type in whatever pop-up message required via the admin control panel in VM. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for bidding. Shelly Webber
