''pinging'' a printer in VB?

I've been playing with a Printer Info example by Karl E. Peterson, which is great. See here: [login to view URL] But sometimes printers can be on and the status be set to offline and sometimes printers can be off but set to online through the Printers window. I don't know if this is possible, but is there a way, by adding to this example (a new column), to send some kind of universal "are you there?" command to any printer through the printer driver and receive reply from each printer to be FOR SURE if the printer is on or not? Similar to a ping for computers. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Windows NT/2000/XP Pro Visual Basic 6
