Plug and Play

I am working on a small application that I have most of the pieces already built. I am having some trouble implementing some basic plug and play hardware detection. The devices that I am trying to detect are storage devices such as CF and SD cards, iPods, external hard drivers, digital cameras, etc... anything that Windows mounts automatically. We can make two assumptions about the end user running the software: a) They have already installed whatever necessary software drivers and support applications needed for said hardware to function (most likely with proprietary applications provided by the hardware vendor); b) Windows mounts the device as a drive volume that all applications can use equally when the device is inserted (this does not necessarily mean that it has a drive letter persay, but normal .NET File/IO operations can function against these devices. What I am looking for is a project solution file with all code necessary to build a fully functional component (seperate DLL). This component will integrate with my [login to view URL] application and allow me to detect when a supported device has been added to the system, and notify me of the File/IO path that I can use to access/search the files on this device through normal .NET means. For instance, if a user plugs in an iPod, I need to be notified what the drive letter is, so that I can search for my "school documents" on the iPod and then perform certain tasks with those documents... like copying them to My Documents. If an abstraction layer needs to be created to support multiple devices, then so be it... so long as a streamlined and consistent interface/API exists at the highest level to achieve this functionality. The component should be self sufficient in the sense that I can bundle it with multiple mini-applications over time. I am open to bids at any price, I am not cheap and am looking for excellent functionality. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Any Windows which supports the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework. Must be developed with C#.
