Gift Certificate System

**BRIEF OVERVIEW:**

We need an online Gift Certificate generation system that has both an end user interface as well as an administrative user interface (master administrator can add/remove other admins):

- We have digital images of gift certificates from vendors saved in .png format (format can be changed)

- Visitors should be able to browse the businesses by category links as well as be able to search for specific businesses or categories via a search box to look for and purchase these certificates.

**3 PHASES TO THE PURCHASE PROCESS:**

PHASE 1 - They must create a user account

PHASE 2 - They Select and purchase their gift certificate. The certificate is then added to their account.

PHASE 3 - User decides on a SPECIFIC date of use and enters this date. The certificate is then imprinted with this date and other security information and is available to the user to download.

**NOTE:**

- The user DOES NOT have to go to phase 3 immediately. They can do phases 1 and 2 and simply let the gift certificate sit in their account until they are ready to choose a date.

**SECURITY:**

- It's IMPERATIVE that the the certificate, before download, be imprinted with the security data to prevent fraud (digitally added before allowing download).

**ADMIN AREA**

- We need an administrative area that has a master administrator and the ability to add sub-admins, which can also be removed, to enter information about vendors & upload certificates. We must be able to dictate items such as how many gift certificates are available, how much they are worth, how long before they become unavailable, etc...

## Deliverables

**AUTO REMOVAL**

- The online offers will carry an expiration date. The system should automatically remove the gift certificate from availability on this day (but NOT remove the vendor or their info)

- The vendor should automatically be removed from searches (but NOT from the system) 15 days after their last offer expires

- If all of a vendors available certificates are purchased this vendor should be treated as "expired"

**NOTIFICATIONS**

- An email needs to be sent to the master administrator each time a certificate is purchased

- This email should be cc'd to the sales rep who sold it

- If a user completes phases 1 and 2 but does not go to phase 3, and a gift certificate is going to expire there needs to be email notification. If the notification fails for any reason (returned, etc...) an admin should be notified.

**EASE OF USE**

It’s IMPERATIVE that the end user and administrative areas be EASY AND INTUITIVE to navigate

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables):

a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

## Platform

this will be hosted on a unix platform with access to php & mysql I prefer non proprietary development so the final solution is platform independent. But I'm open to .net or other development tools.
