Fix Our Category/Subcategory Banner and Thumbnail Image Template in Magento 1.9.2.1

We are having a slight problem with our category and subcategory templates. We have images attached to each category/subcategory. The images that are currently there show fine. Its just when we try to add a new image to either the banner or the thumbnail, that the images show up broken, and dont show at all.
Please note that we are looking for a long term relationship with our magento developer. This would simply be one of many jobs, should we be satisfied with the work completed.
