The goal is basically to be able to edit an existing document using the Google editor web app and the only way I can find to accomplish this is with the GoogleDrive REST API code - if there's another easier way please let me know! I need to have the code working and I also need to understand the code well enough so I can update it as needed and so I can port it to a Lotus XPages application, which should be fine since XPages completely supports native JavaScript. If you'd like to write the complete code yourself and then explain it to me that's fine, or if you'd like to help me with the basic concepts and with the problems I'm experiencing so I can code it (which at the same time will make sure I understand the code) that's fine, too. Here's the functionality: the code will upload a file, usually a Word document, either from the user's local disk or from a URL that points to the document online, to a new GoogleDrive folder which will be created for each new user session. If the folder already exists we need to delete it and its contents first since that would be a discarded file from an earlier incomplete session. My understanding is the API will do this in each user's own local GoogleDrive folder (we can assume every user has their own and is setup correctly) so we don't have to worry about stepping on any other user's sessions. We will then load this Word document into the Google editor web app where the user can make changes. We will need to code a Save button on the web page - when the user clicks this button the updated file is saved back to the new GoogleDrive folder and then downloaded again to the original location, on disk or online, and both the file and folder we just created on GoogleDrive are deleted. I'm a basic JavaScript developer and I have very little experience with the GoogleDrive API although I have the quickStart example working from the GoogleDrive REST API documentation page and I'm making some progress on some other examples.
