Website Inventory Varient Display

I currently have a website on Squarespace and I am using the Mercer template. I have added inventory that has been assigned various color options (see image 1). Once an item has been selected for purchase, the cart will show the item but only in a default color versus the color that was selected by the buyer

For example, the current item (image 1) has 4 options available, aqua, black, gold and white. When selecting the gold option, the aqua image shows up in the shopping cart and is noted as “Gold” but still displays the aqua option which may confuse the buyer.

What I would like to happen is once an item is chosen and added to cart that the product shown inside the cart reflects that actual color option chosen within the cart.
