Webpage monitoring script updated from PHP/CURL to Node.js or Python

We have some existing code written in PHP/CURL that scrapes 500 URL's looking for new URL's posted to the page that runs as a Cron every 5 mins. Once we detect the new URL's we start monitoring those URL looking for specific changes. Once we detect the desired change, we stop monitoring the URL. In a 24 hour period we are Monitoring 8,000 URL's. Currently we are only able to scrape 50 URL's every 5 minutes. We need to increase this to 1000's. I need someone to review our PHP/CURL code that uses our Database and Proxys to be rewritten in Node.js or Python. 1. Review our php/curl code 2. replace our code with yours so it works with our database/proxys but performs better. Tell me you past experience with scraping and what your choice of code to use for scraping.
