Historic sporting heroes project The project: research, identify and shortlist 40 very interesting sports people who have been responsible for a memorable event or development in sporting history in the following sports Golf Polo Tennis Car racing Road cycling Preferably the event was a turning point in the sports history or was part of the main establishment of the sport as it is today and the person was influential or key in this scenario. This could include winning the first great tournament with a major shift in the game’s progress (coming from behind and winning a major event for instance) or overcoming special circumstances like a war or equipment malfunction whilst winning or just generally doing things differently from others and setting the new norm or standard. It has to be something that is memorable. Or maybe I should say, something that might be worth celebrating or commemorating. Preferably the people identified are still alive today, which should be verified in the research. You would obviously be researching more than 40 initially to get to a list of 40 that have been looked at in more detail. This would suit a person who is a good but fast researcher, loves reading about sport and is tenacious in their approach to get the best result. Might suit a student with a keen interest in sports / history or celebrity. I need a well structured easy to read word or excel document with for each: Name and full name of the person Which sport? Details of the event or location that made you list them? What happened that was memorable? What date was this? How many years since that date? What happened to them after that? Have they had any awards following memorable event? Where are they now? Any details you found that indicate a contact method. If you are into writing then a good quality delivery of this project might lead to further projects.
