i am looking for someone to develop a specialized application that does the following:
1-retrieves images from a configurable server folder (on the internet) and stores them in a configurable local cache folder (so it's not retrieving them constantly, and for something to fall back on in the event of connection failure).
2-plays these images in a fullscreen slideshow upon the program loading up when the system boots (has to be able to get back up and running after power failure with no human intervention) with configuration of how long an image is onscreen. the program will then just loop endlessly through these images.
3-check the server folder on a configurable interval for updated files, added files, and deleted files, and update the local cache accordingly on the fly.
4-basic logging of events (other than changing images). just basic logging of what happened when with time stamps to a text file in a configurable folder will be good enough
5-have a basic ui. i'm not looking for anything fancy, just a basic ui will suffice.
what this is for: Advertising
i am planning on teaming up with a neighbor who does advertising on placemats and other things to put up 50" tv's in various locations with intel nuc units strapped to the back of them that will play a slideshow of the images on the tv in a loop. i will be outfitting the units with a small ssd (60-120GB), wifi module, and 2-4GB of ram). these computers will be running linux mint (because i like freeware and opensource, and because linux is far more reliable than windows.
looking to have this done within a couple weeks due to the simplicity. as i'm unfamiliar with programming, i'm not sure what good pay for something like this would be, though i'd like to keep it under $100 or so.
