NetCDF datasets into 2D datasets

The task is to update an existing program WIM/WAM ([login to view URL]) that visualizes and processes satellite data in various formats. NetCDF4 has already been added to WIM/WAM and works for many data types but some specific data formats using netCDF4 are not being read in WIM/WAM.

The data are not truly 2-dimensional (2D) datasets but have a third or more dimensions (e.g. of time or zlev) that is usually 1 or represents either a single instance of time or several “layers” of 2D datasets. The rows and columns are vectors of, respectively, longitudes and latitudes and the 2D dataset is not correctly interpreted as 2D dataset. Note: this is a Windows and Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 project.

The task is to read these either single or multiple “layers” with corresponding longitudes and latitudes as regular 2D datasets. After completion of this Task1, follow-on tasks will be proposed. Long-term but irregular tasks will be proposed if previous tasks are completed well.
