This job is a screen scraping project, to develop a database of sport event outcomes and betting parameters.
Language to be used: Visual Basic 2005
Target database: MS Access 2010
Website to be scraped: [TBD][1] w/contractor
Expected budget: $50
Expected timeframe: 5 days.
The data to be collected will be
Tables: NFL, NCAAFB, NBA, NCAAB
Fields in each table:
(Name, DataType, Description)
Season, Integer, The Year at the start of a given sport season (May be a year behind the actual date)
Week, Integer, The week of the season
Date, DateTime, The date, including year of the event.
TeamHome, String, Team name
TeamAway, String, Team name
ScoreHome, Integer, Home Team's Score
ScoreAway, Integer, Away Team's Score
SpreadOpen, Float, The opening point spread with respect to the hometeam.
SpreadCurrent, Float, The current point spread with respect to the hometeam.
TotalOpen, Float, The opening point total
TotalCurrent, Float, The current point total
MoneylineHomeOpen, Integer, The opening money line at "5Dimes"
MoneylineHomeCurrent, Integer, The current money line at "5Dimes"
MoneylineAwayOpen, Integer, The opening moneyline at "5Dimes"

The UI should include:
A dropdown list box to select which sport to scrape.
A simple menu structure (File Open) to select the database file name to save it to.
A pair of dateselect controls to select the beginning and ending dates to scrape.
The ability to build the database from scratch if File-New is chosen, or updated if File-Open is chosen.
The project must be delivered with all source code and executables.
The code should be commented well enough to allow for easy modification.
