Migration of old website to Wordpress

S.A.F.E. is a UK charity and Kenyan NGO that uses street theatre, film and community programmes to educate, inspire and deliver social change. We promote positive behaviour change around public health issues including HIV and AIDS, female genital cutting, gender-based violence, clean drinking water and environmental sustainability. S.A.F.E.’s primary website ([login to view URL]) is not stable. It regularly has security issues and is not accessible to some users who get error messages and warnings of security risks when they try to access content. We need to transition our website to something more permanent and robust, which is easy to use and update. The purpose of S.A.F.E.’s website is to provide information about projects and enable people to donate to S.A.F.E. We do not use the website for a blog or regularly changing content – it is simply a shop-front. We seek a developer who can support S.A.F.E. to: • Procure new, cost-effective hosting for S.A.F.E. (ie: Wordpress) • Set up the new website and ensure that all the behind-the-scenes bits work, ie: that the new hosting points to our domain name and all is connected • Migrate all existing content from [login to view URL] to the new website The design can remain largely the same – we do not have budget for a full website re-resign – but some tweaks and design improvements would be welcome. In particular, the pages which will need some more design work are: • [login to view URL] - make homepage more engaging • [login to view URL] - better way of showing impact • [login to view URL] - show thumbnails of press clippings • [login to view URL] - find a better way to showcase events • [login to view URL] - overhaul this page and embed PayPal The new website needs to have the following features: • Retain broadly the same layout and page structure as the existing website • Be responsive and mobile-compatible • Twitter widget on the home page • Sign up form that enables people to join our mailing list • Donate function and embedded payment system • Images that are well optimised for faster loading for poor internet connections I don’t anticipate this being a hugely complicated job, as our website does not have sophisticated features and is not connected to email/ CRM etc. The developer will have the full support of S.A.F.E.’s UK Director and the existing hosting/ web team (in Kenya) to make the transition.
