As a currently employed Marketing Specialist for a dedicated online company, I am often the one-stop-shop for all things marketing and communications related. My average day consists of e-newsletter designing, copywriting and distributing, managing several companies' SEM campaigns and maintaining our brand presence and reputation online. This includes all forms of social media as well as regular blog posts and press releases.
My career started, as many do, with a stint at a fantastic university in southern Ontario, Canada. I spent four years studying at Wilfrid Laurier University and finished up with an Honours Degree in Communication Studies. My minor in the French language came in handy while spending my 3rd year in France, learning the culture and local tongue at new depths. This experience planted the travel bug and language love which helped guide my career into the Marketing and Communications realm it now resides.
When there is a big campaign in the works, I spend my time media planning and buying from both digital and traditional media sources. Creating a campaign that is yours from inception to execution is something I take great pride in. I enjoy knowing my efforts and ideas were what the client and/or management wanted and expected from me.
I enjoy writing anything from customer communications and ad copy to website content explaining a product or service that will be comprehensive and interesting to the desired consumer. As an employer, is it important I enjoy my work? Maybe, but what is important, is that I am great at what I do.
