Inspiring, motivating, and instructing students on how to actively seek out information to improve their own lives, in my opinion, is an essential aspect of proper education. In my teaching experience, I have found that guiding pupils in goal setting and reflection activities is just as important as theoretical and methodological instruction. Learners needs not only to be shown the way to acquire knowledge through the development of vocabulary, syntax, public speaking and research skills, but should also be encouraged to set their own paths for learning, to note areas for improvement and to navigate their own progress. This promotion of self-efficacy leads to more cases of long-term academic and professional success, as well as a life-long quest for knowledge and understanding of the world.
