Influence of growth duration to the Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanorods on single-mode silica fiber

Journal of Telecommunication, Electronic and Computer Engineering (JTEC)
Synthesizing Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanorods by varying the growth duration will give effect to the morphology of ZnO nanorods which were grown by using microwave assisted hydrothermal method. The effect of different growth duration from 4 to 10 hours is investigated on the surface of bare silica optical fiber. The ASE spectrum shows that the light intensity decreases with the growth durations due to the light scattering effect.

Optical fiber coated Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanorods decorated with Palladium (Pd) for hydrogen sensing

North-Holland (Optical Materials)
A novel hydrogen (H2) sensor was developed using acid-etched optical fiber coated with zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods. The sensing performance was done by comparing the acid-etched fiber coated with ZnO nanorods with and without decorated Palladium (Pd).

Investigations on the Performance of Various Horizontal Ground Electrodes

Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute
This work presents the experimental and simulated work of various configurations of ground electrodes, with spikes that are thought to enhance the ionization process in soil. In this paper, field measurement was set up, and the results of field measurements were applied with the finite element method (FEM) to obtain the electric field values. It was demonstrated that with the addition of a spike on the electrodes, a high electric field was computed.

Investigations on the Performance of Grounding Device with Spike Rods (GDSR)

Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute
Six configurations of ground electrodes are used, installed at three different sites and subjected to high impulse conditions. Impulse test data of all the grounding systems are analyzed. The Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to compute the electric field values of the ground electrodes achieved. It is found that the highest electric field occurs in the presence of electrodes with the highest Rdc, soil resistivity and current magnitudes.

Growth of well‐arrayed ZnO nanorods on single‐mode silica fiber

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters
Light scattering by zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods at growth duration ranging from 4 to 10 hours. The samples were analyzed using the field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) image to estimate the length, diameter and density of nanorods grown. Optical characterization was performed by measuring the output spectrum of the transmission light, the result indicates that the scattering effect increases with the growth durations.

Microfiber-based Sensor for Measuring Uric Acid Concentrations

Journal of Telecommunication, Electronic and Computer Engineering
The proposed sensor uses single-mode fiber (SMF) tapered using flame brushing technique to enhance the evanescent field around the fiber core to interact with the uric acid. The sensor is capable of measuring the concentrations of uric acid from 100 ppm to 500 ppm with a measured sensitivity of 0.0218 dBm/ppm. The linearity and resolution of the proposed sensor are 99.21% and 28.219 ppm, respectively.
