I can say without hesitation or reservation that Rokun is a very hard worker and is eager to please. I appreciate the fact that he consistently made efforts to stay in touch and communicate with me on the project. If I needed something fixed or corrected, which did happen multiple times, he was quick to do so. We used Skype a which was very helpful and made things go smoothly. In terms of professionalism, effort, and affability -- I am more than happy to work with him again. I am giving him an excellent rating for those reasons. Attention to detail may be an issue; be clear, be precise, and outline all expectations and he will do the work. I have no question of that; he certainly did so with me. However, if you fail to do that, the initial product will be rougher than expected. This theme was. In my view, the best way forward is for the mockups to be used as a quasi overlay, if you will, on the screen. Things should match pixel for pixel. He isn't the first developer I've worked with in fifteen years building sites, and I've found that is often a problem with programmers who have less experience at converting form to functionality. Aesthetics are critical. Spacing is critical. And so on. This should all be properly mapped out in the CSS. As a designer I expect the look to be exactly as we mock it up; it was very close, but not fully correct. However, it was more economical for my programmer here at the studio to clean it up and modifying the delivered product at this stage than to continue to go backward and forward with Rokun. To be sure, he would have done it had I asked, but I decided to take the project at about 75% given time constraints on our end. While not ideal, it is what it is. I suspect in time, his attention to detail aesthetically will improve as he does more projects and works with other professionals in the field on this side of the fence. If you look at it from that perspective, Rokun saved us a lot of in-house time that allowed us to focus on other projects that are more profitable. He acted as a stop-gap and freed up time so we could invest it elsewhere. That in and of itself is pretty valuable. It is fair to state that Rokun is a competent programmer at his given level. Keep that in mind, apply his experience where you need it as an informed consumer, and you will likely be satisfied with the results. // James L. Clark, MBA, MSc.
