Migrate from SQL Server Full Text search, to AWS RedShift/CloudSearch

Yes we can do this using Amazon CloudSearch (or even ElasticSearch cluster setup using EC2 instances). We can implement the access control (SQL cross-join) using AWS CLI and CloudSearch SDK.

Hi. I read the project and got interested. I would like to know more details about the data you currently store and what users search into this data. So, as I understand each user have it's one space where he can upload/store data and can search only in it's space? Are there cases when user needs to search the entire data? I've worked with Redshift before on AWS, even used AWS data pipeline to feed data directly into Redshift from MySQL. However, I'm not sure this is the best solution for you. I know you would like to keep the cost down but the redundancy that Amazon RDS provides with MySQL is hard to beat. I would need to know some other factors(rate of growth, rate of use, percentage of the 1TB that is commonly used, etc.. ) but ElasticSearch might be a better fit and this can be spun up from OpsWorks. However, I can set this up to work via Redshift which is more of a data warehouse with lots of different connections allowed into your data. I have tuned tons of MySQL backends looking at the structure of the queries, proper use of indexes, mysql configuration variables and settings tuned for database engine types used, database tuned for the server (memory, cpu), etc... I've done this from everyone from Activision on the Call Of Duty Series to Livenation.com.
