Virtual Assistant (Bookkeeper - Xero Specialist/Builder Trend) for Residential Construction Business

I am the owner of a small residential construction company, seeking a dedicated Virtual Assistant with expertise in bookkeeping and a deep understanding of New Zealand tax law, specifically trained in Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with Builder Trend or willing to learn, to streamline our financial processes and enhance project management.
Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate data entry for supplier invoices and receipts into Xero, ensuring completeness and precision.
- Prepare and issue invoices, maintaining compliance with procedures and tax regulations.
- Assign and allocate invoices to corresponding construction projects within Xero for organized financial tracking.
- Maintain meticulous back costing records for effective on-billing and expenditure analysis.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations, addressing any discrepancies swiftly.
- Process GST returns, adhering to the nuances of New Zealand tax compliance.
- Work collaboratively with our team to improve financial operations and reporting.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Xero with potential certification, showcasing ability to utilize its advanced features.
- Proven experience in all aspects of bookkeeping, from data entry to processing GST returns.
- Solid grasp of New Zealand Tax law to ensure full compliance in all financial activities.
- Detail-oriented approach with a high level of accuracy in financial data management.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to juggle multiple tasks.
- Independent work ethic, with a commitment to maintaining financial confidentiality.
- Effective communication abilities for seamless teamwork.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Competency in Excel for cost collation, back costing, and detailed project financial breakdowns.
- Experience with Builder Trend or a willingness to master its application for enhanced project management.
- Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles.
- Capacity to manage financial reports and distill insights from financial data to inform business decisions.
