Seems like a challenging project, but I am happy to do it cheaply to get the experience; I haven't been doing freelancer work for a few years because I had a full-time IT job for most of the time from early 2018 until mid 2022. I have had plenty of C programming experience over the years, including writing C code to use an old 1980s star nx-1000 printer (for fun) to print out greyscale images (from jpeg files) on a Linux computer connected to the printer through its parallel port. I also have experience with writing Octave and C code to manipulate yuv files for input to an MPEG encoder. So I think that this is very familiar territory to me!
