I'm the owner of a MUD (Multi User Dungeon, text based online game) that has a few bugs that need to be ironed out and some minor features to be added. The codebase is written in C and uses a gcc compiler in a 32-bit environment. I'll gladly help the bidder out with any questions and discuss each point below in detail. The changes/fixes are fairly simple to coders who have worked on a MUD before and would be very, very quick to implement. Current project scope is:
- Fix the order in which resets load. Objects resetting on an NPC cause the game to get stuck in a boot cycle due to the object spawning before the NPC.
- 'oedit' command OLC needs a 'backroom' field when an NPC is a shop so that items dropped in the backroom can be sold.
- 'make mage' command which changes a pfile field.
- Remove or change line limits to how much text can be input at once in an 'emote' so players can post paragraphs.
- Emote targeting. I have an existing snippet which needs to be made to work in game.
- NPC's do not automatically wander around and needs to be fixed. (Randomly moving north, west, east, south, up or down)
I've attached a copy of the source code for your perusal. To launch:
- head into the /src directory and makefile
- ./startup &
- Check the makefile or startup script to check which port the game launched on.
- Telnet to your machine using the port in the script to enter the game.
To change stuff:
- Commit changes to source code .c file and save.
- makefile in the /src directory
- In-game, enter the 'copyover' command to initiate a hotboot. (Needs level 110 character. Change field in player folder.)
Decent rates and work will ensure future work on a semi-regular basis. Looking forward to having you!
C/GCC expert
Hi, I can support you to fix/update the MUD code for your need.
I have many experiences in C/GCC app development.
Let's discuss more over PMB.
Thanks
Hi
I have the necessary skill set and experience in C Programming, having done jobs like this in my last 5 years of programming, which that does not make me an Ameatur with having fewer reviews, as I might be new here on Freelancer.co.za
At the specified period I can have the required job done, by also providing some of my previous work on such jobs.
