This Excel file is essentially a homemade DVR. It has one user-input tab (first one labelled “DVR”). The second tab is all “system use”. The purpose of the tab is to take user input and generate a Windows Task Scheduler job. Ideally, here is how it would work:
1) My wife enters the movie she wants to record in the “DVR” tab in Column A2, the date she wants it to record in B2, the time of day to start the recording B3, and the length of the recording B4, and the channel in B5.
2) The second tab uses the Excel concatenate command to generate a Windows 10 compliant “SCHTASKS” command. See the latest example at the end.
Now, here’s what I want. I’d like a button to the right of the B5 that says something like “RECORD IT” (maybe like in Column F). Once she presses on that, Excel takes the SCHTASKS command and executes it, which places a new one-time job into the Windows Task Scheduler.
That’s about it! I couldn’t figure out how to get the Excel to execute the command in a CMD shell… I tried macros, Visual Basic, etc.
Thanks all!
