As I understand it, you need the code of the crawler to be easy to maintain. If this means the UI of the website you want scraped might change in the future. For this kind of job, I use Ruby with Watir + PageObject and define a contiguration yaml file where you can specify various variables for the scraper to run with ( output format, proxy source in case it needs proxies, output caching, etc). I can also deploy the scraper in a server, to have it run 24/7. I think what you need is a solid scraper architecture that's easy to escalate and maintain, which I'm certainly able to provide.
