You can use the combination between .NET and Silverlight. On user desktop part we will use C#.NET and on website part we could use Silverlight. You can manage the text properties such as font name, size, weight, color, etc on the desktop part. And the changes will be stored on web server and displayed by Silverlight. The synchronization between desktop and silverlight will be done by using SOAP/WSDL Web Service. And changing will be update based on any changed on the desktop part. So, it is close to real-time.
