Improve robustness of PDF417 barcode recognition and decoding

I have a demo I produced a few years ago of reading a PDF 417 barcode in pure javascript, you can see it here: [login to view URL] This was done with a port we did of zxing's PDF417 support, that port is here: PDF417 [login to view URL] You can see basic demo of this library here: [login to view URL] I was unable to get the library to work well with video captured via WebRTC, I am not sure if the issue was how we were doing localization of the barcode, blur from the moving barcode (WebRTC doesn't give control over focus), or some other issue. I am looking for someone to make this scenario work, maybe using some knowledge of the PDF417 we can correct the image without introducing errors? I don't know. Please do not apply unless you have some theories.
