Pause Director MIAW

I need a reliable way to pause and resume all activity (timeline, quicktime audio & video, etc.) in a Director MX 2004 projector utilizing a Movie-In-A-Window (MIAW). Director projectors have a feature called "Animate in Background", which when turned off, stops processing everything. It seems to work fine, EXCEPT when playing media in a MIAW. BUT, if the movie uses a MIAW, quicktime videos take many seconds to pause. Even then, when they are resumed they skip much of the video (or all of it if paused long enough). I need a method to ensure that the videos (and other media) pause immediately and resume where they left off. Please note that I need a global way of doing this (not touching any of the code inside each MIAW movie). I am open to methods using Lingo, or a seperate Xtra, or C/C++/C#/Delphi code that is external to the projector. Please propose how you plan to solve the problem with your bid. **** ADDITIONAL INFO **** I have attached an example which demonstrates the problem. Note that when the movie loses focus, it takes a second or two for the movie to stop playing (this time delay is much worse for large 800x600 movies). Also note when the movie gets focus again, much of the movie has been skipped. **** MORE ADDITIONAL INFO **** From the questions I have received, I think I need to clarify the problem a bit more. We have a second application (c#) that puts up a dialog box on top of a running director movie (plays in a MIAW). This dialog box comes up in response to a global keyboard hook. So when the dialog box comes up on top of the running movie, we need the movie to pause immediately, then resume when the dialog box disappears. We have one base director movie but hundreds of MIAW movies, so we can't practically change any code in the MIAW's. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
