We have users connecting to our web site and logging into various secure portals to access the following applications:
1. Citrix Secure Gateway
2. OWA (Outlook Web Access)
3. Extranet mini sites
4. VPN
5. Etc.
At times, users report application slow/jittery response. Most often, the issue is at the client side (local ISP). We are looking to create a response time testing micro site for our users to test their connection to the Internet. We are open to ideas and solutions to perform the following tasks:
1. A separate pop up window to show the latency/RTT (Round Trip Time) from client’s PC (Internet Explorer compatible browsers) to:
1. Our IIS (W2K3) web server
2. Additional Internet sites
3. Allow input sites
4. Display the actual RTT in a scrolling window
5. Be able to show/customize a chart or gauge for network latency health (i.e., Green for <100ms, Yellow for <150ms, Red for >150ms, etc.)
2. The RTT most not use ping due to the fact that most firewalls will not allow ping/ICMP traffic
3. The server and client code must be written to provide compatibility with most browsers
4. Must not require client configuration or pose support issues
