Simple job, did similar before, just need to know if the home IP address static or we have to setup DDNS for tracking. Regards

I actually wrote a script like this for my server a few years back. It does however not send emails but if you are interested I could tweak it. All you need is to 1) run the script on your server 2) setup remote desktop or something like that on the home computer The script tries to establish a TCP connection with the home computer and if it fails it sends you the email. I personally used remote desktop as I was checking if one of my servers were running and I already had the service installed on it. It would of course be possible to check on something else as long as the port of the target machine is open.

Hi, Creating a script that sends an email is possible, but some more details are required: 1. On what system will the script be running 2. Do you provide for email server to which the script can deliver its email (gmail account can also be used) 3. Is your computer behind a DSL/Fibre modem, if so it would need to be reconfigured to allow traffic to your computer to ping it. Let me know if I can help. Regards, Stephan

It is impossible to ping a computer under a private network. I suggest run a script on your home computer to request a php api periodly, and run a php script on the server site, if over period, the request does not arrived, then send email.
