Functional Requirements:
User goes to our web site and downloads the toolbar package. The toolbar has an
edit (search) box on the bar and buttons (called from a web page hosted on our server....the buttons are *not* stored locally on the
user's system....very important). The edit/search box let's the user
search for a key word/phrase on the internet. A default search engine is defined within the code.
Thus, the user does not have to go [login to view URL], for example. The text entry box allows the user to
enter their search, and the search results are returned in the main window.
The search box needs to positioned on the left side of the tool bar. The right side of the toolbar is basically
a webpage that is called from our server when IE is launched. Thus, we can display buttons, links, graphics,
etc.... all simply by modifying one webpage on our server. Easy to update, modify, change on the fly..... pretty
simple concept.
So: an IE toolbar that contains a search box + webpage called from our server.
Please Note : The search engine used, as well as the web page called by the toolbar, should be easily configurable within the code.
A default webpage will be installed on the users system for when they are working offline.
For refrence, please visit these unrelated sites:
... that's the general idea.
We are looking for solid code, written by someone who knows their stuff.... and who understand the bugginess of dealing
with multiple versions of Internet Explorer.
Oh yes,,,,, this needs to be as small a download as possible.... the smaller the better.
